Sort Old Projects

Out of site, out of mind. Or so it is with my sewing projects. So today I took a laundry bag full of knitting and crochet projects out to the patio to sort them. That was hours ago and I'm still not done, because I keep getting distracted. I did get some knitting done on the newest project, which is using geometric shapes from an afghan pattern to design something new like a hat or a vest or a scarf. That's going pretty well.

But I'm getting worn out and my head is starting to hurt and I don't want to leave those things out in the dark.

A Saving Habit

Save $50 a month. I decided to start on July 1, 2010. Saved money will hopefully help me feel safer and have peace of mind. The trick is to put it in savings and leave it there.

A Bottle Tree

Decorating outdoors with colored bottles has always appealed to me. Then tonight they had a blurb on a show about bottle trees. Imagine a dead tree with all it's branches cut short, and then a colorful bottle is inverted over each branch. Viola, bottle tree! And there is a metaphysical meaning to them. It was said that the bottles attracted evil spirits over night, and then in the light of day the spirits would be destroyed.

I don't have much of a yard but I'd sure like to make space for a bottle tree. You can use old artifical Christmas trees as a base too. Or even a fence post with pegs in it would work.

The bottle trees with blue glass are particularly striking to me. If I ever get one built I'll let you know.

The week sure went by quick. I had a lot more planned but didn't have the energy to do it. My hands are still sore from woodcarving, and so I've had to lay off the knitting and crocheting. I'm looking forward to the weekend. My daughter may visit. We'll see.

I remodeled this blog. I put one of my kooky photo montages at the top to put a smile on my face. My life is so goofy, I just have to learn to let it all go and laugh at myself.

Buffets

It's a new year so I guess I get to try again. I've joined some other 'once a day' blogs and I have to admit I just don't have enough of me to go around. Today was difficult because some of my dreams are in direct conflict with each other. No one said this was going to be easy. Like I like going to all you can eat buffets, but I don't like being fat. Those two things are just not compatible. But I'm not willing to give up what little social life I have just for some pipe dream of losing weight. You see the problem. I see plenty of thin people in those buffets too. How do they do it? Maybe they dance it all off or work as figure skaters.

Nanowrimo

I'm thinking of participating in Nanowrimo again in Nov. I have done it the last 2 years and haven't written the required 50,000 words yet. Maybe third time is the charm.

The Blue Man Group

The Blue Man group was just on PBS inspiring us all to 'follow our bliss', but as I am so fond of saying, "I am following my bliss; I just wish it would slow down so I could catch it."

Keen

Today I decided to be more businesslike and go back to taking calls on Keen where I know I'll get paid what I'm worth.

Runes and Palmistry

I did two things today. One was to write all the names of the mounds on my hand for Palmistry so I could review them.
The other was to review the meanings of all the runes so I can use them for readings next Sat.
So today has been about metaphysical studies.

Walking

Today I went for a long neighborhood walk. This serves many useful purposes. It gets me out of the house. It helps me memorize the names of all the local streets in case of an emergency. It hopefully will get rid of my extra weight and my high blood pressure issues. It gives me a chance to come up with new ideas for my novels. I'm participating in the nanowrimo event, which is the National Novel Writing Month contest. And walking is life affirming. I get to escape from laziness, telephones, computers, the TV and the radio.
The only down side is I get sore. Someday I'll find a pair of shoes that don't hurt my feet.

Comment Spam

The thing I am doing today is going to all my blogs and resetting them to block comment spam. It is so disappointing to open a comment, thinking someone has finally read the blog, when it says something like 'nice blog, now come over here and buy penny stocks'. I'm glad I found out how to do it today by clicking on 'settings', then on 'comments' and clicking the box to make them type in a passcode to leave a comment.

Write more poetry.

I managed to write 3 new poems today. Here's one of them.

Dancing at the Crystal Moon

Her name was Sally but he always called her June.
Though their affair caused her stress,
When they danced the foxtrot at the Crystal Moon
If was for her he would obsess.
But when he got home he felt like a snake
Even though his marriage was moot
He wanted to eat; yet still have his cake
But June was such a buxom beaut.
With her creamy skin she reminded him of Garbo.

He snuck out that Friday to take her to a play;
He felt like some sort of lurking hobo,
Sneaking out of work in the middle of the day.
He brought her a ring with a big rhinestone
And splashed himself with cheap cologne.

Because the lowly caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly, the butterfly has become the symbol of transformation. Sometimes it replaces the Death card in the tarot deck because it is the symbol of dying to the old and being reborn.
So the purpose of this new blog is my new resolution. Are you ready for it? Here it is.
